The Government of Oman has publicly supported the agreement (which it described as “historic”).  The Grand Mufti of Oman, Ahmed bin Hamad al-Khalili, indirectly criticized the treaty.  Ahmed Mulla Talal, spokesman for the Iraqi government, said that Iraq would not interfere in the sovereign affairs of other countries, but that its laws did not allow for the normalization of relations with Israel.  Trade in services with Israel (exports and imports) was estimated at $13.2 billion in 2017. Services exports were $5.9 billion; Imports of services amounted to $7.4 billion. The services trade deficit with Israel was $1.5 billion in 2017. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned the United Arab Emirates that it will have dangerous consequences for the agreement.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called the agreement a “huge mistake” and warned the United Arab Emirates that Israel was not safe in the Gulf. Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke of a betrayal of Arab and non-Arab countries in the Middle East. A group of protesters with less than 100 residents gathered in front of the VaE Embassy in Tehran on 15 August, chanting “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”. Protesters also burned Israel`s flag.  The conservative newspaper Kayhan, whose editor-in-chief is appointed by Iran`s Supreme Leader, warned that the agreement had made the United Arab Emirates a “legitimate and simple objective.”  Netanyahu strongly opposed negotiations with what he called “the murderous Iranian regime.” Maloney said her host`s comments “are probably not what Bibi negotiated.” According to Hannu Juusola [fi] at the University of Helsinki, the agreement meant that the Palestinians would think that the United Arab Emirates would put its own interests ahead of those of the Palestinians, who always assumed that Arab countries would not sign peace agreements with Israel until Palestinian rights were guaranteed.  Other leaders and groups, including the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, unanimously rejected the agreement, according to Al Jazeera. Mustafa Barghouti, head of the Palestinian National Initiative, said they were not surprised by the recent actions taken by the United Arab Emirates and the fact that the Emiratis had never attempted to fight Israel. He added that this could encourage other nations to ignore the Palestinian issue. The head of the Palestine Liberation Front, Wasel Abu Yousef, said the agreement would only give Israel greater influence over its occupation.
